Tammy Robertson

Tammy Robertson

As a senior municipal employee for the past 13 years, Tammy has seen most aspects of local government operations. Since joining the City of Kamloops, her role evolved into a dedicated position in external relations with a key focus on building and strengthening Indigenous relations. Her path to this role included many hours of training with Indigenous Relations Academy, which helped her lead the Mayor, Council and City staff to see Indigenous relations through a new lens. As a proponent of openness, humility, and respect, Tammy has been successful in fostering new levels of trust between municipal and Indigenous governments leading to new agreements, joint working groups and projects, and cultural heritage protection practices. Through her leadership, the City of Kamloops was recognized with the national CAMA Award for Collaboration in reconciliation and the BC Reconciliation Award from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, in partnership with the BC Achievement Foundation. Tammy and Kúkpi7 Rosanne Casimir have shared the stage as joint speakers at municipal conferences to share their learnings, successes, and commitments for a better future where Indigenous Peoples are recognized for their history, culture, and sustainability since time immemorial.
